To the people of Vuwani,

We are about to start a new journey to start new things. We have a dream for this journey, a dream to strive for excellence, job creation and a better life for all. However, we are conscious of the fact that “whatever course we decide on, there is always someone to tell us that we are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt us to believe that our critics are right”.

To map out a course of action and follow it to the end requires courage and perseverance.
As we take our first step towards the new municipality, we must hold self-discipline as our yardstick to guide us in our journey for excellence, jobs, service delivery and development. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.

We must start to train ourselves to master this principle in our values of life, so that, when the day comes, we shall be ready. This is the journey (during which) we are not prepared to compromise integrity, commitment and passion for justice, honesty, reliability, responsibility and accountability to anything.

In the past months, we learned and had an opportunity to adjust to the newly proposed municipality, which is not for Malamulele or Vuwani as people are so misinformed in our area. We acknowledge that “change is painful”; however, we are grateful that, together, we embrace and sail over that pain of change. We plead with those who resist change to be comfortable, understand and be at ease with one another in the name of political tolerance.

We have to set ourselves a new destination: Our vision for the journey ahead is to create a well- disciplined, professional, performance-focused, strong and effective team, based on mutual respect, better communication, fairness, honesty, reliability, responsibility and accountability.
Vuwani Demarcation Task Team is convinced that we have a great team with great potential to realize this dream. As Pres Zuma once said: “Together we can do better.” It is the responsibility of each member of our community to ensure this dream is realized. On our journey we are well aware of the direction of our destiny.

For us to be there, we need to be passionate and committed to our course and team spirit.

Together we will walk the long journey ahead to the finishing line. On our journey we will commit ourselves to none-divisive conduct and strengthen our team by word and conduct.

No one should be above the team. During our journey ahead, we will strive for excellence as opposed to good or better. The service that we will give to our people will be of high quality, in our journey ahead we commit to limit complaints, but to increase compliments from the provincial and national leadership.

We shall embrace challenges and learn from difficult situations, pick-up positive and smile all the way to our finishing line. We are conscious of the fact that the happiness is within us, the only thing we have to do is to take a positive step to get positive feelings about ourselves.

We are committed to be our people’s true voice for job creation, better service and quality service delivery by being knowledgeable through ongoing research in our field of operation and represent our people with confident and pride.

We commit ourselves to promote our new proposed municipality by reaching out to communities and conduct ourselves ethically and professionally. Build effective relationship with other stakeholders to ensure that our poor communities have access to better life for all, not some.

We plead with all communities members to realize the benefits the new proposed municipality will bring about, more jobs, quality service and being responsive to the needs of the communities under its jurisdiction. Misunderstandings will not get us anywhere.

We have to engage each other to find a common solution to our problem; after fighting we have to move forward as a unit – we need each other.

Hershey Friedman said “A sincere apology allows both parties to move on, stronger than they would have otherwise have been.” We commit to those words and strive to avoid personalizing issues when we are reprimanded for our transgressions. Barrack Obama said to his people “together we can be history makers”.

We commit to hold each other`s hand and move side by side with one another, encourage and carry each other to ensure that no one remains behind and no one fails in our course to excellence and unity as Vuwani team. We are confident that all of us have the ability and potential to take Vuwani to the top ten spot not only in the region but nationally.

We will dedicate ourselves to consistently recognize and acknowledge the exceptional performance of Makhado Local Municipality despite their failure to develop Vuwani town because of the vastness of the area it serves. Budget allocation to the proposed new municipality will focus on the improvement and development of two towns, which is Vuwani and Malamulele.

Allow us to conclude by quoting these words of Ernest J Mchunu: “All recipes for success in life depend ultimately on enthusiasm”. Together we can excel.

- Vuwani Demarcation Task Team
