The Makhado Police are investigating yet another mysterious shooting incident.

On Monday, the police were called out to investigate a drive-by shooting that occurred near Surat Trading’s premises in Eltivillas.

According to local police spokesperson Const Irene Radzilane, a 72-year Indian man was on his way home when three suspects in a white Ford Ranger bakkie opened fire on him.

In total, six shots were fired on the man. One bullet lodged in the man's Mercedes’s tyre and another went through the windscreen. Afterwards the suspects fled the scene. The driver was not injured, and it is unclear what had caused the shooting.

Radzilane confirmed that a case of attempted murder had been opened for further investigation.

Members of the public with information that can assist the police in their investigation are urged to report to the Makhado Police Station at Tel 015 519 4300 or 079 889 6222. Alternatively, the Crime Stop number can be called at 0860 01 0111 or the 24-hour crime line at 32211.
