Musina Municipality recognised for paying their debt

The Musina Municipality received recognition, for the second year in a row, from the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) for settling their Eskom historical debt. This occurred during the seventh Limpopo SALGA Awards held in Polokwane last Tuesday.

Makhado Municipality recognised for yet another unqualified audit

The Makhado Local Municipality was recognised for achieving a fourth consecutive unqualified audit, while also spending 100% of its municipal infrastructure grant. The awards were presented to the municipality by the South African Local Government Association during a function held at the Fusion Boutique Hotel in Polokwane on 20 March.

Debt-collection company apologises for rude letter

The debt-collection company that sent out threatening letters to consumers in Vhembe has apologised for the way the matter was handled and has undertaken to institute disciplinary action against the staff member responsible for sending it out. What also transpired is that the insulting letter was probably written using an artificial intelligence (AI) programme.

Road traffic signs no place for political posters!

As election time approaches, the familiar poster war has recommenced. Despite previous reports by the newspaper on this issue, some political parties continue to place their election posters on road traffic signs illegally. This behaviour was observed once more in Louis Trichardt, where a political party adorned traffic signs with its election posters, notably at the Stubbs Street/N1 traffic circle.

Park development leaves residents puzzled

In recent weeks, Louis Trichardt residents have been questioning what exactly is happening in the park on Rissik Street, between Kock and Reitz Street. The park has been completely cordoned off, with construction vehicles spotted in the area daily.

Residents of Louis Trichardt have been left completely bewildered by the Vhembe District Municipality's latest attempt to collect arrears on water accounts. On Tuesday, consumers received an email from a debt collecting company called Risima Shared Services Legal Department, demanding immediate payment of all outstanding accounts. In principle, one cannot fault them for that, but the tone of the letter has left consumers fuming.

Epic finish for local cycling duo

They did it! Louis Trichardt cyclists Kombo Bere and Daan Terblanche cycled across the finish line in Stellenbosch to complete their first-ever Absa Cape Epic on Sunday. This was a dream come true for both, but also a dream they had to fight for in a race considered to be one of the toughest mountain-bike races in the world.
