Kuku Nyamafushe Ndou, who was believed to be aged at least 120, has died, following a long battle with illness, Mirror has established.

Family spokesperson Ms Sylvia Mbedzi told Mirror that Kuku Ndou died at her rural home in the Tshigomele area, outside Beit Bridge town, on Friday, September 26. She was buried the following day at her village.

At the time of her death, Kuku Ndou could hardly walk and she spent the greatest part of her day in the hut alone. She was born in the Thohoyandou area in the late 1890s.

She was still a young girl when she arrived in Zimbabwe where she settled and eventually got married. She is survived by five children and over 100 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
