Roof burglars strike again

Date: 16 February 2017 By: Prudence Bopape

The Makhado Police have confirmed that there was a break-in reported at the Edgars Active Store in Louis Trichardt.

The incident was reported on Thursday morning, 16 February, when it was time to open the store for business.

It is alleged that the burglars gained access to the store by cutting the razor wires on the store’s roof and climbing onto it. From here the thugs proceeded to cut a hole in the roof of the store, climbing in and disabling the alarm. They then continued to help themselves to expensive merchandise. It is suspected that the burglars made use of several sport bags to help them carry their loot out of the store.

It is further alleged that the burglars, whilst plundering the store, happened to stumble upon the key to the safe and opened it. It is not known what was taken out of the safe.

Police spokesperson Const Irene Radzilane said this morning that investigations are still on-going and that a case of business burglary will be opened throughout the course of the day.

Comment from Edgars, regarding the incident, was still forthcoming at the time of going to press.
