Another easy victory for Louis Trichardt A

Date: 22 October 2016 By: Anton van Zyl

Louis Trichardt’s A-side scored a comfortable victory in their match against Univen the past weekend. The 20-overs match took place at the Cloud’s End field.

Louis Trichardt batted first and Chrisjan Hendriks (38) and Leon Olwage (37) got them off to a solid start with a 58-run partnership. Yahya Jiwa (21), Sufiyan Jolly (15) and Freek Breytenbach (24) kept the scoreboard ticking, but left it to Brendon Bridge (13) and Jaco Botha (13 not out) to take the score to 190 for the loss of 8 wickets.

Univens’ most successful bowlers were Tumela Seshane (2/14), Philander Hobyane (2/41), and Tshepo Mlongo (2/43).

Univen’s innings started off fairly shakily, with Freek Breytenbach (2/19) taking some quick wickets. Tshepo Mlongo (29), Tumela Seshwane (10) and Philander Hobyane (26) then stabilised matters, but the run rate was becoming excessive. Permission Mlambo added a quick 32 runs at the end, but by the end of the 20th over the score only stood at 130/8.

Louis Trichardt’s two most successful bowlers were Freek Breytenbach (2/19) and Leon Olwage (2/19).
