Limpopo and Vikings to start contest

Date: 14 July 2017 By: Anton van Zyl

The first match in the Limpopo Dairy League of the Louis Trichardt Cricket Club is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

The Limpopo Dairy team will face the Vikings. Vikings are the current “champions” of the previous T20 tournament.

The league serves as a warm-up competition to prepare players for the new provincial season, which will start in September. In the Limpopo Dairy league, teams will battle it out over 18 overs, with each bowler limited to three overs.

Five teams have entered for the competition and the rivalry is expected to be intense. Next Saturday (22nd) Vikings will play against Strikers. Strikers surprised friend and foe a few weeks ago by winning the six-a-side tournament.

Cricket players who have not yet joined the club and are not playing for a team are invited to contact any of the committee members. The club treasurer, Ms Naomi Phillipson, can provide the necessary forms and information on membership fees. She can be contacted at 0824847622.
