South African Custodial Management (SACM) in Louis Trichardt hosted their 16th annual charity golf day at the Soutpansberg Golf Club on Friday, 28 May, in a tournament that drew players from as far and wide as Mpumalanga, Gauteng, Mookgophong and Polokwane.

A full field of 18 teams teed off for this 4-ball on a fairly sunny winters day. Just prior, players were welcomed during registration with goodie bags from SACM.  At the end of the day’s competition the prize-giving took place and each and every player received a prize.

The prison director of the Kutama Sinthumule Correctional Centre, Mr Dumisani Nzimande, thanked the club’s captain, Ryno Gerber, club president Inus Steyn and all the players for making the golf day a success. All the players turned up. He also thanked all the sponsors.

Among the 18 teams who competed, two teams stood out. Mapula Enterprises played exceptionally well to win the event with 106 points. The runners-up were the team from Kensani Correction Management (KCM), who finished on 101 points.

“The main specific aim of the day is to generate some revenue  in order to plough back to the communities within the Vhembe District Municipality to uplift the living standard of the frail, disabled, elderly persons and children,”  Nzimande said during the prize-giving function.
