Both Transnet and the Makhado Municipality have denied any knowledge of a contract authorising the removal of side-line railway tracks in Louis Trichardt’s industrial area over the past month. Their denials come after alarmed residents raised the alert when they spotted a contractor lifting and carting away substantial sections of track and sleepers. Although the work has since been halted, a host of questions remains.
