The political reshuffle at the Vhembe District Municipality has materialised with Cllr Miyelani Chauke officially elected as the new executive mayor, replacing Cllr Tsakani Fredah Nkondo.
Chauke was elected during a council sitting where nominees were put forward by the African National Congress (ANC) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). He secured 38 votes, while the EFF candidate received six votes.
