A cross-border drug bust at the Beitbridge border post has led to the seizure of methaqualone powder worth close to R1 billion and the arrest of three suspects.
The operation, carried out on 27 May, involved border guards stopping a truck entering South Africa from Malawi. According to the Border Management Authority (BMA), the vehicle was flagged during a routine stop-and-search operation and directed for scanning.
