“Are you going to the white show or the black show” by Emily Bristow refers:

I write my letter on behalf and in defence of the entire Louis Trichardt community, Indian, Black, Coloured and White, following the inaccurate attack on my community.

It is such a pity we reside with brainwashed, kneejerk Cultural Marxists punting multicultural rhetoric void of facts and without substance. So, I will take the time to point out a few glaring flaws in the content of Miss Bristow’s letter.

Firstly, the “hi-jacked” Louis Trichardt Show; which was once an agricultural show; has degenerated into a cesspool of anarchy. I refer to the mob attack on one individual with reference to Tshifhiwa Mukwevho’s article dated 08 August 2014 under the headline Man feigns death and survives mob attack. I quote; “The mob continued to beat him and pour beer on his body”.

In another article dated 8 August 2014 written by Isabel Venter under the headline ‘Outrage over show”  it was reported that during the three days of the show, the police had charged 111 people with drinking in public, 20 for public drunkenness, three for urinating in public, three for road traffic contraventions and two for prostitution.

A complaint of rape had been lodged with the police and on more than one occasion the police had to use pepper spray to control crowds.

Secondly, the Inni Berg Fees is not a “white show” as you put it, but a festival aimed at fundraising for the CVO School. Had you been less reactionary and taken the time to attend it, you would have been delighted to see both Black and Indian faces there too. They were welcomed and treated like any other participant. As far as I know, there has never once been an incident of violence at the Inni Berg Festival.

Thirdly, this week the Soutpansberg Primary school had an entire fun-park erected on their sport fields ... this hardly a week after the Makhado Show. Many white kids have been attending the festivities there alongside their black friends.

Fourthly; Multiculturalism is another “ism” that has failed to stand the test of time. Our South African constitution, one of the most progressive and comprehensive constitutions in the world, affords us the freedom of association. That means that we have the right to associate with whom we want. It is also a sociological and cultural reality. People don’t hate others… they just prefer to be surrounded by their own. Be it family, community or yes… race too. It is not a crime, just a natural phenomenon.

Lastly, many European leaders have come out and stated that multiculturalism has failed dismally in the EU where the original kneejerk Marxists forced it on people. To be exact, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and I quote; “Multicultural society has utterly failed. The idea of people from different cultural backgrounds living happily ‘side by side’ did not work”.

I would like to add… In the light of the above facts, I don’t think our multicultural community is doing too badly. We, after all, have been living side by side quite amicably… regardless of the inarticulate knee jerkers.

Peace to all the good Louis Trichardt citizens of all colours.
