A very successful tennis tournament took place at the Louis Trichardt tennis club on Saturday afternoon, with 21 teams battling it out for top honours.
The tennis club is currently on a drive to get more players involved in the game. The weekend’s tournament was one of the first projects and members were asked to bring visitors along and compete in a doubles competition.
The teams competed in four pools, with the winners of each pool proceeding to the semi-finals and finals.
The pool winners were:
* Craig Viljoen and Glen McLeod
* Elardus du Plessis and Dirk du Preez
* Johnny Vale and Brendon
* Lindsay Viljoen and Karina Joubert
In the final match, Lindsay and Karina came up against Craig and Glen. The latter was too good and walked off with the trophy.
The club captain, Craig Viljoen, thanked all the members and visitors who supported the tournament. He promised that a follow-up tournament will be held within the next month.
People interested in joining the tennis club can contact Craig at 082 509 2386.
